THE STEPS TO FILING A CLAIM:
Unfortunately, receiving SSDI and SSI benefits is all too often a lengthy and exhaustive ordeal. You may have to take several steps in ensuring that your claim is accepted. I can help you navigate these steps:
- File an initial claim: Your initial claim will be examined by a non-attorney decision-maker who can deny benefits based on very narrow criteria.
- Requesting a hearing: Once your claims have been denied twice, you should file a request for a hearing before an Administrative Law Judge of the Social Security Administration.
- The administrative hearing: During your hearing, having an effective lawyer on your side can make all the difference. Attorney Brian Dowd will persuasively present your claim before the Administrative Law Judge (ALJ). Mr. Dowd has experience working for ALJs and understands what types of evidence are likely to influence their decision.
